Charleston, A Southern Dream

I have taken my time writing this post, because there are very few places I love more than Charleston, South Carolina. This city has it all. From adorable breakfast spots, unique bars, incredible food, gorgeous architecture, ugh I just love it.

First, and foremost, let’s talk food. Southern food is by no means healthy, so my advice is to lean in to this opportunity and get some damn biscuits.

Most Importantly, FOOD

Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit:I love everything about this place right on the main drag of King Street. You can get sweet biscuits, honey butter biscuits, savory biscuits, all smaller than your palm. The vibe is retro and cozy and the smell draws you in from the sidewalk. This is a do not miss.

Poogan’s Porch:This is a sitdown brunch spot in a charming little old house with so much character you could cry. The cocktails need to be tried and the food strikes a balance of elegant and comfort food that your grandma would make.

Cru Café: Fried green tomatoes here are next level. I highly recommend Cru, especially for their lunch menu which should allow everybody to find something they want to eat.

Smoke:If you aren’t from the South, my guess is you want some BBQ. This one is a family favorite.

167 Raw: If the bride is a seafood lover consider 167 Raw.

Activities!

Take a tour: Charleston is such a gorgeous, historical city. I recommend scheduling at least one tour for your time there to break up the girly, drinking activities. We took a carriage tour, which you can pick up at any time down by the Historic Charleston City Markets (also worth a visit!).  You can learn more about the homes and the stunning rainbow row.

Boone Hall Plantation:A little outside the city, this plantation is worth a visit. Learn about the history of the property and take a hay ride through the grounds. Also, this is where the Notebook was filmed  AND where Blake Lively married Ryan Reynolds if you are still not convinced it’s gorgeous.

Candlefish Co.: First, this is a store you will spend some money in. Second, they host BYOB candle making classes. I need to take one someday.

Grand Bohemian Hotel Wine Blending: The Grand Bohemian Hotel’s sommelier leads a wine blending class in a gorgeous brick room in the hotel. After you create a bottle, head up to the rooftop to enjoy some spectacular views.

Isle of the Palms:The beach isn’t so far away and this is my favorite one.

 Drinks, Drinks, Drinks

5Church:Did you know Charleston is known as the Holy City due to its abundance of churches? This one is a bar. And you’re going to want to pay it a visit.

Edmund’s Oast Brewing Co:A little on the outskirts of town, but this brewery has it all, great food, great craft beer, and cornhole.

Let me know of any suggestions or questions you guys may have! I hope to go back to Charleston this winter and then I can update my post with even more amazing experiences.
